Six of the Best Stripper Movies of All Time

It’s undeniable that strip clubs have become part of contemporary culture. As societies get more liberal, people open up to the raunchy fun of pole dancers, exotic entertainers, burlesque and pole dance. Not only do people go to shows more often, there are whole art scenes built around the performers; from showgirl sketch classes to contemporary luxe corsetry art and of course, film. So many of the hottest movies of the past two decades have centred on strippers – their lives, their adventures in the business, and of course their stunning performances.

Looking for a little inspiration for your stripper-tastic birthday, buck’s night or hen’s party? Check out some of these six stripper movies.

  1. Showgirls

This 1995 box office disaster staring Elizabeth Berkley has been derided for its cheesiness, but it was one of the first dramas to take a behind-the-scenes look at the business. A must-watch to see just how far stripping has come in the past 20 years!

  1. The Full Monty

While you may not want guys who look like the cast of The Full Monty performing at your hens’ (eep!), this movie shows that sexy comes in all shapes and sizes. If you’re booking waiters or dancers to entertain a large diverse group, think about taking all tastes into account.

  1. Zombie Strippers

This hilarious 2008 horror-comedy starring super famous porn star Jenna Jameson was an underground hit. The title pretty much says it all – there’s not much of a story, but what it lacks in plot it makes up for in laughs. Check it out to explore the lighter side of adult entertainment.

  1. Magic Mike

Magic Mike sold millions of tickets at box offices around the world when it was released in 2012 – and no wonder! Starring Hollywood heartthrob Channing Tatum, who started his entertaining career as a stripper, it brings together detailed character backgrounds with a sweet love story – but in the end, it’s all about those moves! Co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello and Matthew McConaughey show just what talented male performers can do.

  1. Burlesque

With amazing costumes and stars already famous for their dance skills, Burlesque is a sexy yet classy drama about the revival of old-school burlesque. Although it’s not as raunchy as a lot of all-out stripper films, it’s definitely worth a look if you’re interested in hosting a classier party – Prohibition Era-themed scotch tasting with topless waitresses, anyone?

  1. Planet Terror / Grindhouse

OK, OK, so they weren’t ‘stripper movies’ per se, but this B-movie style exploitation double feature had its moments. Who could forget Rose McGowan as the ass-kicking stripper with the high powered machine gun leg?! Fans of the faux-retro style should also check out Sin City – Jessica Alba’s character is simply stunning.
